Saifullah Muhammad

Saifullah Muhammad is a dedicated community builder with significant contributions both in Canada and internationally. As the co-founder and Managing Director of the Rohingya Centre of Canada, he plays a crucial role in supporting and uplifting the Rohingya community.

Born in Myanmar, Saifullah spent his childhood in refugee camps in Bangladesh, Thailand, and Malaysia before he called Canada home in 2016. He holds an undergraduate degree in journalism and a Master’s in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Waterloo.

Saifullah’s career began as the Coordinator of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion for the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, advocating for marginalized communities. He later served as Government Relations Lead for Human Concern International, furthering his humanitarian efforts.

Alongside his professional roles, Saifullah contributes to several community and refugee-serving organizations as a board member. His impactful work has earned him numerous awards, including "Most Dedicated Journalist of the Year" by the Waterloo Region Record (2019), the Alumni of Distinction Award from Conestoga College (2021), a nomination for Ontario's Premier Award (2021), the Advocate of the Year Award by Justice for All Canada (2022), and KW Change Maker of the Year by CBC (2023).
